Open Distance

A visual essay on space, pause and the quiet distance between things.

The space between

There is a particular kind of quiet in open space — not empty, but waiting. Open Distance is a study of that interval: forms that sit apart, light that settles slowly, colour that refuses to shout.

We started with a single question. What happens to an image when you leave room around it?

Distance is a way of looking. The further you stand, the more the relationships between shapes begin to matter more than the shapes themselves.

In this series, every element is given its own territory.

Leave room around an image, and it begins to speak in a lower voice.
